Although patrol officers are primarily responsible for traffic enforcement and accident investigation, the department has assigned an officer to coordinate those efforts. The Traffic Services officer is responsible for fielding requests for traffic enforcement and conducting traffic surveys. He conducts traffic analyses, reviews site plans, subdivisions, variance requests and ensures that posted traffic signs conform to the Department of Transportation standards. The Traffic officer is also responsible for reviewing all motor vehicle accident reports, attending the State and County Traffic Officers meetings and maintaining the radars’ calibrations and the officers’ radar and breathalyzer operator certifications.
